Shooting Update

On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, around 9:00 PM, the Haralson County Crime Suppression Unit took William Lee Hodges into custody for Aggravated Assault. The Haralson County Crime Suppression Unit, comprised of Sgt. Trenton Benson, Sgt. Travis Kirkland and Sgt. Terry McAdams received a tip of the location of Hodges, who failed to turn himself in earlier in the afternoon. They went to a Paulding County address with the assistance of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, but Hodges had left that location. The CSU was misled by family members as to Hodges’ location, but they developed intel that led them to Higgins Hospital in Bremen, where Crime Suppression Unit members located Hodges in the parking lot and arrested him.

This arrest stems from a shooting that happened earlier in the day where deputies were dispatched to a shooting already occurred where the victim was currently at Higgins General Hospital in Bremen, GA. Deputies contacted Investigator Bobby Mullenix who went to Tanner at Higgins and met with the victim, who had one gunshot to the top of his left foot. After leaving the hospital, Sgt. Mullenix went to the scene on Little Circle Road to conduct the investigation and process the scene there. The investigation shows that there was an argument between the victim and his sister’s boyfriend, William Hodges, around 3:00 AM and she separated them and told them to leave. Sometime after 5:00 AM, the victim went back to the house to retrieve something from a vehicle. The victim and Hodges got into a verbal argument that turned into a physical altercation and during the fight, Hodges took out a pistol that belonged to his girlfriend and shot the victim in the foot. Hodges took the firearm when he left the scene.

William Lee Hodges, a 40-year-old W/M out of Tallapoosa, GA is currently in the Haralson County Detention Center facing charges of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault FVA and Theft by Taking – Firearm.
