Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is the most visible component of the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office and is the cornerstone for law enforcement services within the agency. The Patrol Division’s personnel are the first responders to the vast majority of 911 calls requesting law enforcement assistance within the county.

The duties and responsibilities of the Patrol Division include: Responding to felony, forcible felony, and misdemeanor crimes in progress; protection of life and property; preliminary investigation of criminal occurrences; proactive traffic law, safety, and regulatory enforcement; investigation of motor vehicle accidents; preventative patrol of commercial and residential areas; service of felony and misdemeanor warrants; interaction and coordination with local and state law enforcement agencies and other first responders; public assistance with the individual communities, residents, and visitors within the county; and various other specialized assignments, as directed or needed.

The Patrol Division operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, covering 283 square miles and servicing an estimated population of more than 30,000 residents. On average, the Patrol Division answers between 1200-1500 911 calls for service a month, and when combined with their other law enforcement activities, averages between 2700-3300 community, business, and citizen interactions per month and logs between 26,000-31,000 miles of zone patrol coverage per month.

The Patrol Division is under the direction and command of Captain Edwin Ivey, and its individual shifts are led by Sergeant Jarred Taylor, Sergeant Ricky Parks, Sergeant Lee Bauder, and Corporal Travis Short. The deputies assigned to the Patrol Division have a combined total of 175 years of law enforcement experience, over 18,000 hours of POST recognized mandated and specialized law enforcement training, and possess an array of career development and specialized certifications through the State of Georgia’s Peace Officer Standards and Training Council, as well as other nationally recognized and accredited law enforcement training and certification organizations.

The 15 men and women of the Patrol Division distinctly embrace the difficult challenges, as well as the heart-felt rewards, of standing as the front line of professional law enforcement services to the citizens and communities of Haralson County.
